More than 39 morphological characters of adults were analysed and the character states determined for each character by out-group methods and ontogenetic patterns of character development. No direct cladistic concordance was observed between the family cladogram of Anoplura and their mammalian host cladogram. Further resolutions made for specific family clades showed close phylogenetic parallelism between Anoplura taxa and their mammalian hosts.</p>
