Summary: We reviewed the published literature on parasites of Chilean raptors with the aim to evaluate the state of the art of this topic. We found a total of 22 publications which report 51 parasites species from 23 species of Chilean raptors, including two subspecies. The raptor hosts with the most reports of parasites were the Chimango Caracara (Milvago chimango) and the American Kestrel (Falco sparverius). The taxonomic order of parasites with the highest number of reports was Phthiraptera (N = 47), followed by Acari (N = 4). Regarding endoparasites, the scarce number of publications (N = 3) describe 10 helminth species from only two raptor species, Chimango Caracara and American Kestrel. Most of the papers contained taxonomic descriptions and/or only documented parasites records, and only four focused on ecological aspects. We presumed that future studies will permit describe new parasite species on Chilean raptors, and better understand the host-parasite relationship.
