&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Title: Primeiro registro da ocorr&amp;ecirc;ncia de Neotrichodectes barbarae (Ischnocera: Trichodectidae) em irara (Eira barbara) (Carnivora: Mustelidae) no Sul do Brasil&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Resumo&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Parasitos necessitam de pelo menos um hospedeiro para sobreviver, podendo provocar algum preju&amp;iacute;zo ao mesmo. Os animais silvestres s&amp;atilde;o hospedeiros de uma grande variedade de parasitos, que podem atuar como oportunistas ou como agentes prim&amp;aacute;rios de doen&amp;ccedil;as. Dentre estes, destacam-se os da ordem Phthiraptera, conhecida por abrigar os piolhos ectoparasitos de humanos e animais. Objetivou-se reportar a ocorr&amp;ecirc;ncia de Neotrichodectes (Trigonodectes) barbarae, um piolho mastigador, em Eira barbara, um mustel&amp;iacute;deo conhecido como irara, no munic&amp;iacute;pio de Ibaiti, estado do Paran&amp;aacute;. Os parasitos foram coletados do mustel&amp;iacute;deo ap&amp;oacute;s atropelamento em uma estrada estadual no munic&amp;iacute;pio de Ibaiti, e foram identificados no Laborat&amp;oacute;rio de Zoologia, seguindo a chave taxon&amp;ocirc;mica para Trichodectidae proposta por Lyal, 1985. Todas as fases do ciclo de vida do parasito foram encontradas, indicando o seu parasitismo obrigat&amp;oacute;rio e permanente neste hospedeiro. A realiza&amp;ccedil;&amp;atilde;o de levantamentos de fauna parasit&amp;aacute;ria contribui para a compreens&amp;atilde;o das rela&amp;ccedil;&amp;otilde;es parasito-hospedeiro em animais silvestres e amplia o conhecimento sobre a ocorr&amp;ecirc;ncia de esp&amp;eacute;cies no territ&amp;oacute;rio brasileiro.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Parasites require at least one host to survive, and can cause some damage to it. Wild animals are hosts of a wide variety of parasites, which may act as opportunists or as primary agents of disease. Among these, the order Phthiraptera, known for housing the ectoparasites of humans and animals, stand out. The objective of this study was to report the occurrence of Neotrichodectes (Trigonodectes) barbarae, a chewing lice, in Eira barbara, a mustelid known as irara, in the municipality of Ibaiti, state of Paran&amp;aacute;. Parasites were collected from the mustel ace after a hit-and-run on a state road in the municipality of Ibaiti, and were identified in the Zoology Laboratory, following the taxonomic key for Trichodectidae proposed by Lyal, 1985. All phases of the parasite life cycle were found, indicating their obligatory and permanent parasitism in this host. The realization of surveys of parasitic fauna contributes to the understanding of the parasite relations in wild animals and expands the knowledge about the occurrence of species in the Brazilian territory.&lt;/p&gt;
