Two species of chewing lice (Phthiraptera) were collected from seven Grey- headed Lapwings Vanellus cinereus (Blyth, 1842), caught in Jinshanyakou, Yunnan Province, China. They are Actornithophilus hoplopteri (MjoĢˆberg, 1910a) and Quadra- ceps sinensis Timmermann, 1954a. Both species represent new records for China and V. cinereus represents a new host record for A. hoplopteri. As neither species has previously been adequately described, we here present illustrations and descriptions of both species, as well as short notes on the microhabitat of both species.

During the chewing lice examination on ducks for the genus Anaticola Clay, 25 ducks of five species (5 birds for each species) were examined from different water bodies of Sindh Province of Pakistan. A total of 65 specimens of chewing lice of genus Anaticola were collected including two species, A. crassicornis (Scopoli, 1773) and A. mergiserrati (De Geer, 1778) from only two species of ducks, common teal Anas crecca (L.) and common pochard Aythya ferina (L.). It is recovered for the first time from a duck of the genus Anas, which make the new host record in the world and first time reported from Pakistan making new country record.

The results of a six years long (2000\–2006) study on the ectoparasitological material from some Falconiformes and Strigiformes species of Romanian fauna are presented; from the 12 identified chewing louse species, Colpocephalum polonum (Eichler \& Zlotorzycka, 1971) is reported for the first time for the entomological fauna of Romania, and Menacanthus stramineus (Nitzsch, 1818) is reported for the first time on the atypical host Accipiter gentilis. Also, we report a case of an extremely high parasitizing intensity with Degeeriella fulva (Giebel, 1874) of an adult specimen of Buteo buteo, such values of infestation intensity being rather rarely reported in literature.

We describe and illustrate Austrogoniodes vanalphenae, a new species of chewing louse from the yellow-eyed penguin (Megadyptes antipodes) in New Zealand. We amend the key to the species of the genus Austrogoniodes published in 1967 by Clay to incorporate this new species. We also report the following new host records: Austrogoniodes bifasciatus (Piaget, 1885) from Spheniscus humboldti, and A. demersus K\éler, 1952 from Spheniscus mendiculus.
