&lt;p&gt;78 individuals of waterbirds from six species were examined. Eight species of Mallophaga were found, out of which three have been recorded in Poland for the first time (Mjoberginirmus alcae, Saemundssonia calva and S. celidoxa). The biting lice were most frequently located on the head, neck and breast of birds.&lt;/p&gt;

As an effect of tremendous diversity of the animal coat microhabitats of different hosts, various morphological adaptations. Finally this process led to host and topical specificity development, i.e. evolution of host specific species or even some synhospital species living in different microhabitats of the same host.&lt;/p&gt;
