Unfortunately the domain name of the old site has been lost. The domain name was managed but Bob Dalgleish and with his recent death we were unable to gain control of the site name. The simplest solution was to rename the new site. Fortunately we have captured a complete copy of the old site which can be reached at http://phthiraptera.info/oldsite.

Melbourne Romaine (Mel) Carriker (25 February, 1915 - 25 February, 2007) the son of Melbourne A. (Meb) Carriker, Jr. (1879 - 1965) and the author or editor of three books on his father's ornithological and phthirapteran work died following a stroke. Mel was a professor of Malacology at the University of Delaware. Lewes, DE.

The genus Aquanirmus Clay and Meinertzhagen, 1939 is restricted to the Podicipediformes: Podicipedidae. A small series of females have been collected from the great grebe, Podiceps major. We owe a debt of gratitude to the late Dr. R. J. Donaldson [JRSH 2005:125(5):197], affectionately known as Paddy, for the fundamental contribution he made to our understanding of head louse control.
