| Abstract: | The author creates the new genus Aurinirmus for some Goniodidae (Mallophaga, Ischnocera) parasitising the Galliformes of the family Megapodidae, including Goniocotes crassipes Piaget, 1888, the female of Homocerus macrocephalus Keler, 1939 and three species new to science. The genus Aurinirmus has very near relations with the genera Saussurites Tendero, 1971 and Auricotes Keler, 1939., from the Columbiformes. Besides other morphological features it may be distinguished from them repsectively by the presence of auriculiform pre-vulvar formations and by the deposoition of the female genital region. |
