Abstract:

The new species Apterygon okarito is described and illustrated from four samples of lice collected from the Okarito brown kiwi (Apteryx rowi Tennyson et al., 2003) in Okarito, South Island, New Zealand. The morphological relationships of the new species are discussed, especially in connection with the taxonomic position of its host.
