A survey of 166 families (936 persons) living in 151 households in a semi-urban community in Goa, India, showed that 56.6% of the families had 1 or more persons infected with lice and 17.3% of the 936 persons were infested. Some 34.4% of the females but only 2.1% of the males were infested.
