Abstract:

Four species of mallophaga from birds in Tenerife are studies: Cuclotogaster barbara (Clay, 1938) on Alectoris barbara (Bonnaterre); Companulotes bidentatus compar (Burmeister, 1838) and Columbicola columbae columbae (Linneo, 1758) on Columba livia canariensis Bannerman and Degeeriella fulva (Giebel, 1874) on Buteo buteo insularis Floericke. All of them are recoreded for the first time in the Canary Islands, increasing to eleven the number of species of mallophaga known from this archipielago. Description and measurements of a taxon (Cuclotogaster barbara) and morphometric data of all the other species are given.
