Abstract:

A new species, Hoplopleura octomydis is described, based on specimens collected from Octomys mimax Thomas, 1920 at Ischigualasto, San Juan, Argentina. Descriptions involve male and female features, the three nymphal instars, external architecture of the egg and sites of oviposition, providing differences with its close relative Hoplopleura disgrega Ferris, 1921 and Hoplopleura chilensis Werneck, 1937. Comments on the distribution of H. disgrega. H. chilensis and H. octomydis sp., all included in the disgrega-group, and the hosts involved are also given.
