Abstract:

Four species of Geomydoecus are recognized from the Hispid Pocket Gopher, Orthogeomys hispidus. These are G. copei, found in the northern 1/3 of the host range, and G. yucatanensis, G. chapini, and G. hoffmanni, n. sp. (type-host : O. h. isthmicus), comprising a closely-related group found in the remaining southern 213 of the range. These species are described and illustrated; a map shows their distribution.
