Geomydoecus thomomyus complex (Mallophaga: Trichodectidae) from pocket gophers of the Thomomys talpoides complex (Rodentia: Geomyidae) of the United States and Canada

Eight species o f Geomydoecus from pocket gophers of the Thomomys talpoides complex are described and illustrated: G . thomomyus (McGregor) from 24 T. talpoides sspp. (type host , T. t. rostralis Hall and Montague); G. craigi n. sp. from T. monticola J. A. Allen and 9 T. talpoides sspp. (type host , T. t. levis Goldman); G. biagiae n. sp. from 8 T . talpoides sspp. (type host, T. t. columbianus V. Bailey); G . betleyae n. sp. from T. monticola, 2 T. maxama Merriam sspp. and 2 T. talpoides sspp. (type host , T. m. mazama); G. thaeleri n. sp. from 11 T. maxama sspp. and 1 T. talpoides ssp. (type host , T. m. glacialis Dalquest and Scheffer); G . dakotensis Price and Emerson from T. t. rufescens Wied-Neuwied; G. fuchsi n. sp. from 5 T. talpoides sspp. (type host , T. t. fuscus Merriam); and G . duchesnensis Price and Emerson from 4 T. talpoides sspp. (type host , T. t. uinta Merriam). A key is provided for the identification of these eight taxa.
