Mallophaga of snipes of the northern area of the Black Sea. II. Suborder Ischnocera

Abstract:

In communication I published in > No. 6, 1967 as well as in communicaiton II the data are presented on the fauna of snipe Mallophaga which were found in 1963-1966 on the left-bank steppe zone of the Ukraine. 339 speciments of 27 snipe species were investigated, 8 of them nesting in the steppe and 19 - flying by. 68 species of Mallophaga were found to be the specific parasites of the snipe order (24 species of Amblycera and 44 species of Ischnocera). Extensiveness of the snipe infection with Mallophga is 89.9 p/c/, an average intensity of infection is 25.3 of specimens. 41 species of Mallophaga out of 68 found in the steppe are new for the Ukrainian fauna and 19 species are registrated for the first time in the USSR fauna (of Amblycera suborder -- Actornithophilus bicolor, A. paludosus, A. sedes, Austromenopon aegialitidis, A. haematopi, A. himantopi, A. spenseri; of Ischnocera suborder -- Cirropthirius recurvirostrae, Lunaceps actophilus, L. falcinellus, L. incoenis, Auadraceps assimilis macrocephalus, Q. charadrii hospes, Q. fissus, Saemundssonia conica, S. kratochvilli, S. scolopacispaeopodis platygaster, S. tringae). For the Northern area of the Black Sea the data on the fauna of Mallophaga of snipes are published for the first time.
