Abstract: | 1. The copulatory apparatus of the hog louse (Haematopinus suis) is a phallus consisting of three parts: phallobasis (= phallotheca), endotheca and aedeagus. The aedeagus is retracted into the phallobasis by means of the endotheca and thus extrusible telescope-like. At rest the whole copulatory apparatus is retracted into the genital chamber. The parameres are sclerotizations of the phallobasis, the basal plate is a joint formation of the genital chamber and the phallobasis. |
