New records of sucking lice (Insecta: Anoplura) from African Mammals

Host and distribution records are presented for 29 species of sucking lice (Insecta: Anoplura) collected from native African mammals. These lice consist of five species of Haematopinus, seven of Hoploplura, two of Linognathus, two of Eulinognathus, one of Johnsonpthirus, one of Lemurphthirus and eleven of Polyplax. Many new host and distribution records are established. Host-parasite relationships are discussed for some species. Much of the material was collected from mammals in Zaire or Zimbabwe.
