Abstract:

The new species Hoplopleura neotomydis is described based on specimens collected on Neotomys ebriosus vulturnus Thomas, 1921 at Sierra de Zenta, Jujuy Province, Argentina. Descriptions include male and female features, the three nymphal instars, extemal architecture of the egg and sites of oviposition, providing differences with its close relative Hoplopleura ingens Castro, 1982. Comments on distribution of these two species on their hosts and a key to the species of the Hoplopleura travassosi species-group found in Argentina are also given.
