Abstract:

Sheep showers are returning to use as backline treatments with synthetic pyrethroids lose their efficacy against sheep chewing lice Bovicola ovis. The history of showers is given. The design of major components is described and suggestions made for improvements. The importance of top nozzles and pump output volume is emphasised. The need for showering in short wool is described and for holding sheep under the shower for periods of 4-10 minutes is discussed.
