Some morphological aspects in the species Meropoecus meropis (Denny, 1842) (Phthiraptera: Ischnocera)

Several morphological aspects of the male and female of Meropoecs meropis (Denny, 1842) are presented, as the general hibitus, morphometrical deta, as well the detailed morphology of the following structures: preantennal region of the head, anterior dorsal cephalic plate (clypeal signature), abdominal pleural plates, posterior extremity of the abdomen, copulatory organ and female genital region. All these morphological aspects have a taxonomical importance for establishing the position of this species within the genus, as well the phylogenetic relations.
