Abstract:

Fourteen species of Colpocephalum sen. lat. from gallinaceous birds are recognized and discussed. Ten of these are newly described; they and their type-hosts are chloropi (Tropicoperdix chloropus), talegallae (Talegalla cuvieri) , orientalis ( Arborophila orientalis sumatrana), tetraophasis ( Tetraophasis obscurus ) , freycineti (Megapodius freycinet freycinet ) , lathami and alecturae (Alectura lathami lathami) , wilhelmi and arfakiani (Aepypodius arfakianus) , and maleonis (Macrocephalon maleo). C. echinatum Ewing is synonymized with C. thoracicum Kellogg and Paine. C. parumpilosum Piaget and C. hoffmanni Zavaleta are considered species sedis incertae. A key to the species is given.
