Abstract:

The seven species of Farenholzia which occur on mice of the subfamily Heteromyinae (spiny pocket mice) are described and illustrated. Three new species are included: ehrlichi, from Liomys irroratus subspecies; fairchildi, from Liomys salvini subspecies, L. adspersus, and Heteromys desmarestianus; and hertigi, from H. desmarestianus. The description of the genus Farenholzia is revised, based on characters found in the new species.
