The seal louse Echinophthirius horridus was considered as a possible vector of disease in the seal disease epidemie along the North European coast in 1988. This species of sucking lice was hitherto uncomplete pictured and discribed. In occasion of the seal disease epidemie 400 specimes of lice including larvae, males and females could be studied. Adults and larvae are described and pictured by SEM photos .
