We suspect that this louse also parasitizes M. monax in Canada. [ex. Durden, L. A., Musser, G. G. 1994. Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History 218: 1-90]. Holotype female and allotype male were collected from Marmota monax rufescens from Grafton, North Dakota (not South Dakota, fide, Wilson, 1963), and deposited in the Ferris Collection, Department of Entomology, University of California, Berkeley.
