All host species are in the subgenus Reithrodontomys (Musser and Carleton, 1993). [ex. Durden, L. A., Musser, G. G. 1994. Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History 218: 1-90]. Lectotype female and other paralectotypes from Reithrodontomys dorsalis Merriam, Todos Santos, Guatemala (Ferris Collection 925), in the Ferris Collection, Department of Entomology, University of California, Berkeley (Kim 1965). [ex. Kim, K. C., Pratt, H. D., Stojanovich, C. J. 1986. The Sucking Lice of North America, p. 241: Pennsylvania State University]. Kim, Pratt, and Stojanovich (1986) in The Sucking Lice of North America spell the specific name of this taxon reithrodontomydis.
