Abstract: | Authors review both published and unpublished records of bird-louse associations from the Danube Delta, Romania. Out of a total of 233 bird species regularly encountered in the region, 176 bird species (representing 20 bird orders and 50 families) were recorded to host lice, with a total of 393 different louse-host associations. We listed a total of 270 louse species and subspecies altogether, including 79 species of Amblycera (three families: Laemobothriidae, Menoponidae and Ricinidae) and 191 species of Ischnocera (one Family: Philopteridae). |
