Linognathus africanus è un anopluro, o pidocchio, che parassita principalmente le capre, solo recentemente trovato in Italia. Si riporta la prima segnalazione di questa specie per la Romagna, dove le informazioni e la conoscenza di questo gruppo di ectoparassiti sono tuttora scarse. Numerosi esemplari dell’insetto sono stati trovati su una capra deperita proveniente da un allevamento presso Roncofreddo (Forlì-Cesena). La recente segnalazione per la Sardegna induce a riesaminare l’effettiva distribuzione della specie nel nostro Paese.
Abstract
[Linognathus africanus Kellogg & Paine, 1911 (Insecta, Phthiraptera, Linognathidae) on Capra hircus Linnaeus, 1758 (Mammalia, Bovidae) new for Romagna] Linognathus africanus is a sucking louse recently found in Italy. Here is described the first finding of the species in Romagna, where the information about this group of ectoparasite is still poor. The insect was found on a weakened goat from a breeder in Roncofreddo (Forlì-Cesena province) and the recent sightings also for Sardinia induce to reconsider its effective distribution in Italy.
